The Mazzoni Center was awarded a sizable grant earlier this month aimed at funding its women and trans men cervical cancer screening initiative.
The Mazzoni Center, Philadelphia’s LGBT health care and wellness center and the organization behind the Philadelphia Trans-Health Conference, is one of 17 beneficiaries to receive grant money from the Public Health Fund, a foundation that fosters regional organizations with a mission to ”improve the health of the Delaware Valley community through innovative and effective public health initiatives.”
The Mazzoni Center’s $10K prize will be used for its Women and Transmen Cancer Screenings initiative. Launched in June of this year, the program was founded to “increase access to and affordability of key health screenings and services for women [and transgender men.]” Thanks to the Public Health Fund and previous grants, Mazzoni has been able to purchase special equipment to perform cervical cancer screenings.
