São Paulo Hospital First in Brazil to Provide Hormone Treatment for Trans Teens

The Hospital das Clinicas (HC) of São Paulo will be the first in Brazil to implement hormone treatment for transgender teens.

Currently, hormone therapy is only granted by the public health system to those over 18 years. Based on international medical studies, the Federal Council of Medicine (CFM) has, since March, recommended treatment from the age of 12, when signs of puberty begin.

Initially this type of treatment will start only at HC and then be extended to all state facilities that provide care for transsexuals.
