First elected transgender member of DNC vows to push equal rights for trans people

Jersey City native, Barbra Casbar Siperstein, is the first elected transgender member of the Democratic National Committee, The Star-Ledger reports.

Siperstein, 70, plans to urge equal rights for transgendered men and women as well as boost democratic principles, the article stated.

This upcoming Democratic National Convention marks the third in her career and her first as an executive committee member.

The article also said that Siperstein will be taking the gender equality message and tolerance to Democrats this week by meeting them, one person at a time.
